Biography

The Hon. Lily L. Sinfield is a judge for the Superior Court of San Bernardino County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in December 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Michael M. Dest.

Sinfield earned a B.A. from Occidental College. She then completed a J.D. from California Western School of Law.

She began her legal career in 1998, working as a contract attorney at the Law Offices of Ronald Lais. The following year, she joined the Office of the District Attorney of San Bernardino County. She served as a deputy district attorney for two years, eventually leaving to accept a position as a deputy city attorney with the Office of the City Attorney of San Diego. Then, in 2005, she briefly returned to San Bernardino County, this time to serve in the Office of the Public Defender as a deputy public defender. Sinfield resumed her duties in the Office of the City Attorney of San Diego the following year.

Sinfield returned to the private sector in 2007. She spent a year working as an attorney in the Law Offices of James Spring.

Then, in 2008, she joined the Superior Court of San Bernardino County, first as a juvenile court officer and then as a traffic court commissioner.

Sinfield has taught as an adjunct professor at Victor Valley College from 2006 to 2008.

At the time of her appointment, she was a resident of Victorville, California.

She is registered as a Republican.
