The Hon. Lia R. Martin is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in December of 2010.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Martin received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and went on to earn her J.D. from UCLA School of Law.
Martin joined the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in 1993 as a deputy district attorney at their Alhambra office. She remained with the D.A.'s office until 2006 when she was elected to the Los Angeles County Superior Court as a court commissioner. She served in that capacity until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2010.
Judge Martin has served on the Advisory Committee on Providing Access and Fairness.
