Judge Damrell graduated cum laude with her B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. After graduating from college, Damrell worked as an equity derivatives trader trainee for Group One Trading LLP from 1999 to 2000, and as a marketing manager for two years at Mr. Stock Inc. While at the firm, Damrell's areas of practice included employment law, discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and wage-and-hour litigation. At Orrick et al., she also advised major tech and financial institutions, the likes of which included Microsoft, Oracle, and Morgan Stanley.
In 2014, then-governor Brown appointed Damrell to serve on the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, a position that required Senate confirmation.
