Biography

The Hon. Laura J. Davis is a judge for the Sutter County Superior Court in California. She succeeded the Hon. Brian A. Aronson when she was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown. Her appointment became effective on December 31, 2018.

She is not registered under any party affiliate.

Judge Davis received her B.A. from the University of California, San Diego and went on to earn her J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Davis joined the law firm of Folger, Levin and Kahn LLP as an associate after graduating law school in 2001. She remained there until she joined the law firm of Seyfarth Shaw LLP in 2003. In 2005 Judge Davis became a research attorney for the Sutter County Court. She has also served as a Judge Pro Tem, handling civil and traffic cases. Judge Davis taught a legal writing and research class as a professor at Cal Northern School of Law from 2015-2016. She remained at the Sutter County Court as a research attorney until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2018.

A California native, Judge Davis has been an active member of her community serving as a volunteer for the Humane Society as well as volunteering in clean-up events at her local parks.
