Biography

The Hon. Kenji Machida was a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He retired from the bench in 2018.

Machida was originally appointed to the bench by former governor Gray Davis in 2001.

The Hon. Carolina V. Lugo filled the vacancy created by his retirement.

Machida received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1965.

He went on to earn his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1968.

Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Machida practiced for the law firm of Berger, Kahn, Shafton, Moss, Figler, Simon, and Gladstone.

In 1980 Machida served as president of the Japanese American Bar Association.
