The Hon. Kathy Ciuffini is a judge for the Kings County Superior Court in California. She won the June 2018 primary election.
Judge Ciuffini received her B.A. in Communications from the University of California, San Diego in 1988 and went on to earn her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1994.
In 1996 Ciuffini joined the Tulare County Public Defenders Office in Tulare County, California, where she worked as a Deputy Public Defender for four years. In 2001Judge Ciuffini joined the Kings County D.A.'s Office as a Deputy District Attorney. She spent the next 17 years with the D.A.'s office, eventually becoming a Managing Deputy District Attorney in 2016. She remained at the D.A.'s office until being elected to the Superior Court in 2018.
Judge Ciuffini has received certifications in child sexual abuse forensic interview training as well as forensic interview training involving interviewing children and preparing them for court. She was the employee of the year for the Kings County D.A.'s office in 2003 and was nominated again in 2005. She has also received a Public Safety Appreciation Award from the Hanford Chamber of Commerce and has been honored for victim advocacy by the Kings County Probation Department, Victim Witness Assistance Center. In 2013 she received recognition from the F.B.I. for her involvement in a case regarding a California State Prisoner.
