The Hon. Julia Spain is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. She was originally appointed to the Hayward Municipal Court in 1996 by former governor Pete Wilson. She was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court in 1998 after the court's unification.
Judge Spain received her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Prior to her appointment to the Municipal Court, Spain was the executive director of the Alameda County Bar Association, where she had served in various positions over the course of fifteen years. Before that, she had worked for eight years as a named partner at McCarthy, Leonard, and Spain.
