Biography

The Hon. Joseph R. Porras is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2012.

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Porras received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1995. He went on to earn his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1998.

Prior to being appointed to the Superior Court, Porras served as a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. He joined the D.A.'s office in 1999 and was assigned to their Hardcore Gang Division. He served as a prosecutor for 13 years.
