The Hon. Jonathan B. Conklin is a judge for the Superior Court of Fresno County, California. He was appointed in 2005 by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2014 he was automatically re-elected after running unopposed.
Conklin received his B.A. from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California.
Prior to his admission to the bench, Judge Conklin was deputy chief of the Fresno branch of the U.S. Attorney’s Office where he also served as senior litigation counsel and an assistant U.S. attorney.
Judge Conklin presides over the trial department in the Superior Court of Fresno County, California. He also serves on the court’s Education Committee, Executive Committee, and Access to Justice Committee. He was the court’s presiding judge in both 2014 and 2015.
During his time as a judge, he has served on many Judicial Council workgroups and committees. He is the chair for the Trial Court Budget Advisory Committee, that provides input on the budget process for all trial courts statewide. He also serves on the council’s AB 1058 Funding Methodology Joint Subcommittee, Ability to Pay Workgroup, and Language Access Plan Implementation Task Force.
Judge Conklin is an Adjunct Faculty member at San Joaquin College of Law in Clovis, California.
He is an advisory board member for Volunteers in Parole and Turning Point of California.
