Biography

The Hon. John L. Fielder is a judge for the Superior Court of Kern County in California. He was initially appointed to the West Kern Municipal Court by former Governor Jerry Brown in 1980.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Fielder served as a court commissioner for the West Kern Municipal Court. Before that, he was a deputy public defender in the Office of the Public Defender of Kern County.

Fielder was admonished by the Commission on Judicial Performance for improper conduct in 2015. The admonishment was issued after Fielder intimidated court administrators after accusing them of violating court protocol for moving courtroom clerks around.

When not presiding over cases, Fielder enjoys running half-marathons.
