Biography

The Hon. Jay H. Robinson is a judge for the Superior Court of San Bernardino County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown on December 22, 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Cynthia Ludvigsen.

Robinson earned a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1993. He then served as an aviation officer in the United States Army from 1993 to 2000. After completing his service, he enrolled at Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he received a J.D. in 2003.

He began his legal career in 2003, serving as a law clerk for the Hon. Lawrence J. Block of the United States Court of Federal Claims. The following year, he joined the Office of the District Attorney of Riverside County. He served there as a deputy district attorney for two years before moving to the Office of the District Attorney of San Bernardino County. Then, in 2009, he joined the Office of the United States Attorney of the Central District of California. He entered as an assistant U.S. Attorney, eventually rising to deputy chief in 2014. He held this position at the time of his appointment to the bench.

Robinson is registered without party preference.
