Biography

The Hon. James N. Bianco is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench in June of 2008 and was subsequently appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in July of that same year. The governor's appointment allowed Bianco to immediately assume the bench. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Daniel S. Pratt (Ret.).

Judge Bianco received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1984. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1987.

After graduating from law school, Bianco joined the law firm of Weissburg and Aronson as an associate in 1987.

After three years with the firm, Bianco became a deputy city attorney for the Santa Monica City Attorney's Office where he served as a prosecutor from 1990 to 1994.

Then, in 1994, he left the public arena to become a named partner at Bahan and Bianco. After a year there, Bianco entered into solo practice in 1995. Five years later, Bianco joined the Los Angeles law firm of Overland, Borenstein, Scheper, and Kim LLP where he served as of counsel in 2005.

In May of 2005, Bianco was elected by the Los Angeles County Superior Court judges to serve as a court commissioner. While a court commissioner, Bianco presided over felony criminal cases. He was serving in that capacity when he was elected to the bench in 2008.
