The Hon. Jacob Blea III is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Pete Wilson in 1997.
Judge Blea graduated with his B.A. in English from California State University, Hayward in 1975. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1979.
Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Blea had worked in private practice. Blea specialized in civil and family law.
During his time on the bench, Judge Blea has served as a family law judge as well as presided over a general criminal calendar.
He received the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award from his alma mater Cal State in 2015. He also served as an instructor at Cal State East Bay's paralegal education program for 25 years.
