The Hon. Hector E. Gutierrez is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in November of 2014.
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Gutierrez received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.
After graduating from law school, Gutierrez clerked for the D.C. Court of Appeals for one year starting in 1999. In 2000 he returned to Los Angeles to join the District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney. In 2008 he was appointed to the D.A.'s Hardcore Gang Unit where he remained until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2014.
