Biography

The Hon. Harry Jay Ford, III is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Carl West in his appointment to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2013.

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Ford graduated with his Bachelor of University Studies in social and behavioral science from the University of Utah in 1982. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1985.

After graduating from law school, Ford joined the law firm of Adams, Duque, and Hazeltine as an associate in 1985. In 1987 he joined Tyre, Kamins, Katz, and Granof Law Corp as an associate. He was subsequentially made a shareholder for the firm where he practiced for 18 years. In 2005 he became a court commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court and remained in that capacity until his appointment to the bench in 2013.
