The Hon. Harold W. Hopp is a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Robert Taylor (Ret.).
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Hopp received his bachelor's degree from Pacific Union College. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
Hopp spent his entire legal career, outside of the bench, in private practice. He worked as an associate with the law firms of Paul Hastings, Janofsky, and Walker and with Best, Best, and Krieger. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he had served as of counsel to Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart, Oliver, and Hedges since 1990. His area of practice centered on civil litigation.
On the bench, Judge Hopp served as presiding judge for a two-year term and also presided over the felony vertical calendar department at the Larson Justice Center. Before that, Judge Hopp was assigned to hear limited and unlimited civil cases.
Some of his professional committees have included serving on the Superior Court's Executive Committee, the Legislative Outreach Committee, the Budget Advisory Committee, the Trial Court Presiding Judges Advisory Committee, the Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee, the Civil Jury Instructions Advisory Committee, and the Bench Bar Coalition. He was also appointed to the Judicial Council by the Hon. Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye.
