Biography

The Hon. Griffin M. J. Bonini is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. He was elected to the bench on November 2, 2004.

Bonini earned a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College. He then completed a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1992.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Bonini served as a deputy district attorney with the Office of the District Attorney of Santa Clara County from 1994 to 2004. During his tenure there, he prosecuted criminal cases, including child molestation, rape, attempted murder, robbery, narcotics, arson, domestic violence, elder abuse, gangs, and juvenile crimes.

From 2000 to 2001, Bonini briefly left the Office of the District Attorney. He ventured into civil law, joining Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker as an associate.

He has taught Trial Techniques at Santa Clara University School of Law.

Raised in Santa Clara County, Bonini is a graduate of Gunn High School. He has been an active member of Queen of Apostles parish.
