The Hon. Glenda S. Allen-Hill is a judge for the Superior Court of Fresno County, California. She was appointed by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to replace the Hon. Gary S. Austin in July 2008. She was automatically re-elected after running unopposed in 2016.
Judge Allen-Hill earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of California, San Diego. She received her J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School.
She joined the military in 1983 while still in law school and spent four years on active duty. She became a Captain in the Navy and earned a reputation as a distinguished Military Lawyer practicing in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps.
After her military career, she became a Deputy District Attorney in both Fresno County, California and Madera County, California.
Judge Allen-Hill served over 10 years as a Superior Court Commissioner. She was first assigned to Juvenile Court in Southeast Fresno County, California for eight years. She was then assigned to the downtown Courthouse where she presided over small claims, criminal and civil cases for two years. During her time as a Commissioner, she presided over hundreds of trials.
Outside the bench, she worked as a Girl Scout Leader and mentor. She is on the board of directors of Fresno Council on Child Abuse Prevention and other organizations. She also volunteered her time to an after-school reading program for underprivileged children.
Judge Hill shares one child with her husband Ronald, a law enforcement veteran.
