Biography

The Hon. Glen M. Reiser (Ret.) was a judge for the Ventura County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 1998 by former governor Pete Wilson. He retired from the bench in 2019.

After graduating from high school, Reiser attended West Point for one year. He then transferred to the Unversity of California, Santa Barbara where he graduated with his B.A. in history in 1975. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 1978.

After graduating from law school, Reiser joined the law firm of Nordman, Cormany, Hair, and Compton. He would remain there for 14 years, eventually being named a partner. While there, Reiser specialized in torts, family and constitutional law. Later, he became an expert in land use and environmental law. Reiser left the firm in 1992 to enter into solo practice, opening the Law Office of Glen M. Reiser. Five years later, he became of counsel at the law firm of Ferguson, Case, Orr, Paterson, and Cunningham LLP where he would remain until his appointment to the Superior Court in 1998.

While on the bench, Reiser served as a supervising probate judge, where he presided over probate, conservatorship, trusts, and guardianship cases. He also presided over criminal trials and motions. Reiser was also the only Ventura County Superior Court judge to be assigned to serve as a California Environmental Quality Act judge, where he served for ten years.

He has taught probate orientation, conservatorships, and advanced courses for the Judicial Council of California's Center for Judicial Education and Research.

Reiser became a neutral at Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. (JAMS) in January 2019.

Reiser was named the Judge of the Year in 2016 by the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association.

His professional memberships have included the Probate Law Curriculum Committee, the Emerging Technologies Ad Hoc Working Group, the Court Technology Advisory Committee, and the Technology Planning Task Force, just to name a few.

Some of his hobbies include running and rollerblading.
