Biography

The Hon. Gerald Rosenberg (Ret.) was a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2000 by former governor Gray Davis. He filled the vacancy created by the elevation of the Hon. Candace D. Cooper to the Court of Appeal in November of 1999.

Rosenberg graduated with his B.A. in political science from California State University, Northridge in 1972. He went on to earn his J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 1975.

He began his legal career as a principal at the law firm of Malmuth and Rosenberg in 1975 where he practiced civil litigation until 1985. While practicing for the firm, Rosenberg also became a statistician for the NFL Football team, the erstwhile Los Angeles Raiders from 1982 to 1994. After leaving Malmuth and Rosenberg, he became a sole practitioner opening the Law Office of Gerald Rosenberg in 1985.

He remained in private practice for the next ten years, during which time he also served as a judge pro tem for the Municipal Court from 1980 to 1995. Rosenberg then became a court commissioner for the Beverly Hills Municipal Court in 1995 and also served as a court commissioner for the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2000. He was serving in that capacity at the time of his appointment to the bench.

During his time on the bench, Rosenberg served as an assistant supervising judge for the Superior Court's West District from 2004 to 2006 and as the West District's supervising judge from 2007 to 2010.

In 2011 his alma mater, Southwestern Law School, recognized him with their Outstanding Judicial Officer Award. He also received the 2017 Trial Judge of the Year Award from the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Some of his memberships have included the Associaton of Business Trial Lawyers, the California Judges Association, the Santa Monica Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Rosenberg joined ADR Services, Inc. in 2019 as a neutral.
