The Hon. Elaine Lu is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She succeeded James Bascue in her appointment to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on August 20, 2007.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Lu received her B.A. and B.S. from Stanford University in 1989. She went on to earn her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1994.
Lu served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office starting in 1997. By the time she was appointed to the Superior Court in 2007, she was the deputy chief in the general crimes section for the City Attorney's Office.
