Biography

The Hon. Douglas Hatchimonji is a judge of the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former governor Gray Davis on October 8, 2003, filling a vacancy created by the elevation of Judge James Selna.

Hatchimonji earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1977. He then received a J.D. from the Southwestern University School of Law in 1981.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Hatchimonji was a partner at Rose, Klein & Marias. He held this position from 1986 to 2003, specializing in personal injury litigation.

Hatchimonji was named the Honorable James P. Gray Judge of the Year by the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County in 2015.
