The Hon. Dorothy L. McMath is a commissioner for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She served in its probate department since 1998, where she handled petitions for the appointment or the removal of conservators.
McMath earned a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1983.
Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court of San Francisco County, McMath worked for the Superior Court of Contra Costa County. During her tenure there, she served as a probate attorney for ten years, eventually becoming a probate commissioner in 1995.
McMath has been a member of the Probate and Mental Health Advisory Committee of the Judicial Council of California. She has also chaired the Forms Subcommittee of the Advisory Committee. Her other memberships have included the Probate and Mental Health Committee of the California Judges Association as well as the National College of Probate Judges.
McMath contributed to the book “Guardianship of Audits: Achieving Justice, Autonomy, and Safety,” which was written by the Probate Department of the Superior Court of San Francisco County.
