Biography

The Hon. Donna Fields Goldstein (Ret.) was a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2003 by former governor Gray Davis. She had filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Keith L. Groneman (Ret.). Goldstein retired from the bench in March of 2018.

She received her B.A. from Beaver College in Pennsylvania in 1968. Goldstein attended law school at Rutgers University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude with her J.D. in 1972.

After graduating from law school, Goldstein joined the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. as a trial lawyer. During her brief time at the DOJ, Goldstein served as a civil rights litigator for the Civil Rights Division.

Goldstein left D.C. in 1977 to join the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California. She served as an assistant U.S. attorney, where she handled employment discrimination and class-action lawsuits.

After two years with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Goldstein joined the law firm of Rudin, Richman, and Appel in 1980. She would practice for the firm for five years before becoming a partner at Epstein, Becker, and Green PC in 1985. She then partnered with Manatt, Phelps, and Phillips LLP in 1991, where she remained until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2003. Her area of practice focused on employment discrimination.

During her time on the bench, Goldstein presided over the North Central District, where she heard all unlimited civil cases. Prior to that, she had presided over the Misdemeanor Trial and Family Courts.

She enjoys reading and doing needlepoint.
