The Hon. Delbert C. Gee is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Gray Davis in 2002.
Judge Gee received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Davis in 1977. He went on to earn his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1979. While in law school, Gee served as an associate editor for the Santa Clara Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Gee joined the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, where he worked as a deputy district attorney for two years.
He then entered into private practice, where he would spend the rest of his legal career until his appointment to the bench in 2002. He first worked as an associate for the San Francisco law firm of Hassard, Bonnington, Rogers, and Huber for six years, before joining Bronson, Bronson, and McKinnon in 1988. He would then partner at Sturgeon, Keller, Phillips, Gee, and O'Leary beginning in 1990. Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Gee had served as a partner at Pacific West Law Group LLP since 2001. While in private practice, Gee specialized in health and liability insurance coverage litigation, medical malpractice litigation, and health care law.
While on the bench, Judge Gee's assignments have included criminal felony, misdemeanor, juvenile dependency, and delinquency. He also served as a supervising judge for the Probate Department.
Judge Gee received the Judicial Distinguished Service Award in 2010 from the Alameda County Bar Association.
Judge Gee, who is of Chinese descent, was born in Oakland, California. His parents both immigrated from China. His father is a United States Army veteran of World War II. His mother ran an Asian food and gift store in Livermore, California.
