Biography

The Hon. Dean Benjamini is a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2013.

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Benjamini received his B.S. from California State University, Sacramento. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1993.

After law school, Benjamini joined the Riverside County Public Defender's Office as a deputy public defender. He worked there, for what would prove to be his first stint, from 1994 to 2005.

He then entered into private practice with his wife, Emily Benjamini, who also previously worked for the Riverside County Public Defender's Office. They opened the self-named law firm Benjamini and Benjamini APC in 2005 and would practice together until 2013.

It was at that time that Benjamini received an offer to rejoin the Riverside County Public Defender's Office, this time as an assistant public defender, where he would be tasked with running the P.D.'s Indio office. He remained in that capacity until his call to the bench four months later.

His wife, the Hon. Emily Benjamini was appointed to the Riverside County Superior Court by then-governor Brown in 2018.
