Hon. David W. Abbott is a judge for the Superior Court of Sacramento County in California. He was appointed by former Governor Gray Davis in October 2001. Judge Abbott received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley in 1970 and juris doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1973. Before his appointment to the bench in 2001, Judge Abbott maintained a civil trial practice for 25 years emphasizing professional liability, products liability and general tort litigation. He is currently assigned to preside over civil jury trials. He serves regularly as faculty for California Judicial Education and Research, instructing on topics pertaining to trials and evidence.
Judge David Abbott was selected as Judge of the Year for 2008 by the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association, a local chapter of the Consumer Attorneys of California. Judge Abbott’s clerk, Dessie Rogers, was selected as Court Clerk of the Year. This award is presented in recognition by the Trial Bar of noteworthy performance in the administration of justice in Civil Trials.
