The Hon. David R. Fields is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2010 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Robert Paul O'Neill (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Fields graduated with honors with his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1984. He went on to earn his J.D. from UC Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1988.
After graduating from law school, Fields became an associate at the law firms of Wyman, Bautzer, Kuchel, and Silbert from 1988 to 1991, and Katten, Muchin, and Rosenman, where he practiced for one year.
Then, in 1991, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice as an assistant U.S. attorney. He would serve as a prosecutor for the DOJ's Major Crimes Section as well as served as their Domestic Terrorism Coordinator. He remained with the DOJ's office for 10 years.
In 2001, he left the DOJ to join the law firm of Greenberg Glusker where he would practice as an associate, until becoming senior counsel at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer, and Feld in 2002. After six years with the firm, Fields practiced briefly at the Law Offices of James Pertus in 2008 before becoming a partner at the law firm of Brown, White, and Newhouse in 2009. During his lengthy legal career, Fields' area of practice included complex litigation matters involving clients in business and the entertainment industry.
