The Hon. David I. Brown is a judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2008 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Brown received his bachelor's degree from San Diego State University. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1974.
Brown began his legal career as an associate at Rust and Armenis in 1973. Five years later, he would become the founding partner at the Law Offices of Baily and Brown, where he would remain until his appointment to the bench in 2008. During his time in private practice, Brown specialized in civil tort litigation involving personal injury, construction defect, and legal and medical malpractice cases. Brown's father, who was severely injured in WWII, asked his son to represent him in his veterans benefits case. Hesitant at first, Brown acquiesced and argued the case in front of the Court of Veterans Appeals. Though he had never practiced that area of law before, Brown still won the case in his father's favor.
Brown also served as a judge pro tem for Yolo and El Dorado County Superior Courts.
During his time on the bench, Judge Brown has presided over the Civil Law and Motion Department.
He was named Judge of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Capitol City Trial Lawyers.
Judge Brown has served as an Instructor for the Sacramento County Public Law Library.
