The Hon. Christopher B. Harmon is a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2014. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jean Pfeiffer Leonard (Ret.).
He is registered without party preference.
Judge Harmon received his B.A. from the University of Southern California. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2000.
He began his legal career in private practice, where he served as a named partner at Harmon and Harmon from 2000 to 2013. He also served as the executive director and trial attorney for the Criminal Defense Lawyers beginning in 2003. Then, in 2013, Harmon entered into solo practice, where he would remain until his appointment to the Superior Court a few months later. During his time in private practice, Harmon defended death penalty, white-collar, corporate, and large drug conspiracy cases. He specialized in the areas of criminal and DUI defense.
He was originally appointed to a family law docket and has also presided over a limited civil calendar.
He served as the past-president of the Riverside County Bar Association. His other memberships have included the Lawyer Referral Service, the Judicial Evaluation Committee, and the Criminal Law Section.
