The Hon. Charlotte W. Woolard (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She was initially appointed to the Municipal Court of San Francisco County by former governor Pete Wilson in 1993. Then, in 1995, she was elevated to the Superior Court of San Francisco County, where she presided over the family courts, the law and motion courts, the civil trial courts, and the appellate division.
Woolard earned a B.A. from San Jose State University in 1976. She then received a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1979.
She began her legal career as a research attorney for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in 1979. She joined the Office of the District Attorney of San Francisco County the following year. She worked as an assistant district attorney for six years, eventually leaving to accept a position as a civil litigation attorney with Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman, and Dicker. During her tenure with the firm, she specialized in personal injury, products liability, government tort and municipal liability, construction, professional malpractice, and insurance coverage disputes.
She has served as vice president and secretary-treasurer of the California Judges Association and a trustee of the San Francisco County Law Library Board. She has also been a member of the National Association of Women Judges, California Women Lawyers, the Queen’s Bench of the Greater Bay Area, and the Lawyers Club of San Francisco.
Woolard was born in Urbana, Ohio.
She is registered as a Republican.
