Biography

The Hon. Catherine Lyons (Ret.) served as a commissioner for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She was appointed by the court on March 8, 1996.

Lyons earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1979. She also received an M.P.A. from Harvard University in 2002.

She began her legal career as an associate at Keker and Brockett, where she worked as a civil litigator for several years. She then joined Bledsoe, Cathcart, Boyd, Eliot, and Curfman, handling insurance defense cases on behalf of the firm. Then, in the 1980s, Lyons moved to Grubb & Ellis Co. During her tenure at this real estate company, she served as a vice president and staff attorney, overseeing its litigation practice.

Prior to her appointment to the superior court, Lyons started her own mediation and arbitration practice, where she focused on real estate broker malpractice cases.
