Biography

The Hon. Barbara A. Dickinson is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2017 by former Governor Jerry Brown. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Larry J. Goodman (Ret.).

She is a registered Democrat.

Judge Dickinson received her B.A. from George Washington University. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

She began her legal career as a deputy public defender with the Alameda County Public Defender's Office in 1989. Dickinson would rise to the position of assistant public defender in 2013 and remain in that capacity until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2017.

Dickinson has served as a judicial liaison and board member for the Women Lawyers of Alameda County Association.
