Hon. Wynne S. Carvill (Ret.) was a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2003. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of Ken Kawaichi (Ret.). Carvill retired from the bench in 2019.
He graduated with a B.A. in religion from Williams College in 1971. He went on to earn his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1974.
Outside of the bench, Carvill spent his entire legal career in private practice. He joined the law firm of Thelen Reid LLP in 1977. He would practice antitrust and commercial litigation for the firm for over twenty-six years and would be named a partner in 1982.
While on the bench, Carvill served as a presiding judge and an assistant presiding judge. In addition, he presided over complex litigation, civil direct, family law, civil bench trials, and criminal calendars.
