Biography

The Hon. William Stacy Trotter is a judge of the 358th District Court of Ector County. He was appointed to the bench in 2004 by Governor Rick Perry. He was again elected to the seat in 2014 and re-elected in 2018.
Before pursuing a legal career, Trotter graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Texas Tech University in 1981. He then went on to earn his J.D. from his alma mater in 1985.
After earning his law degree, Trotter worked as an attorney for Shafer, Davis, OLeary & Stoker from 1984 to 2004. He was then elected to the bench seat of the 244th District in 2004 until he retired in 2011. From there, he returned to private practice as an attorney with his prior firm. He worked in that capacity until he was again elected to the bench of the 244th District County in 2014.
Trotter is a registered Republican.
