The Hon. William G. Willett was a judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court. He retired from the bench in 2018.
Willett was originally appointed to the Municipal Court in 1980 by former Governor Jerry Brown. He was elevated to the Superior Court as a result of the court's unification in 2000.
Prior to being appointed to the Municipal Court in 1980, Willett served as a prosecutor for the Torrance City Attorney's Office.
During his time on the bench, Willett was elected to serve as a presiding judge for the South Bay Municipal Court in 1988.
In 2007 Willett was involved in a legal dispute with the City of Torrance over a 7' wall that was built on his property without the proper permits and that also encroached on the city's right-of-way. He was ultimately forced to tear down the wall but was allowed to erect a shorter one.
