Biography

The Hon. W. Terrence O’Brien is an administrative judge for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the bench in 1987.

Prior to his election, O’Brien worked as legal counsel for the Beechview Community Council.

O’Brien earned a B.A. from Duquesne University in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at Duquesne University School of Law in 1975. During this time, he sold brushes door-to-door and dug ditches for Equitable Gas Co.

After graduating from law school, O’Brien began his legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. Judge O’Brien of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.

Raised in Beechview and Brookline, O’Brien attended South Hills Catholic High School. He is a longtime tennis player.
