The Hon. W. Collins Cooper is a judge for the 4th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. He was elected to the bench on November 6, 2018.
The 4th Judicial Circuit encompasses Clay County, Duval County, and Nassau County. Cooper has held assignments in Duval County.
Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Florida. He then completed a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 2006.
After graduating from law school, Cooper began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. He served in that capacity until his election to the bench.
Cooper is the son of William Cooper, a civil attorney, and the Hon. Mallory Cooper (Ret.), a former judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court. At the time of his election, he was the third member of his family to serve as a judge for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. He was also a placekicker for the University of Florida’s 1996 national championship football team.
