The Hon. Travis B. Bryan, III is a judge for the 272nd District Court in Brazos County, Texas. He was initially elected to the bench in 2008.
Prior to his election, Bryan worked as a criminal defense attorney in his own private practice since 1972. This work was briefly punctuated by a term as the District Attorney for the Brazos County District Attorneys Office, a position he held from 1978 to 1983.
Bryan earned a B.B.A. in finance from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1969. Then, in 1972, he completed a J.D. at Baylor Law School. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
His memberships have included the Brazos County Bar Association and the Texas Bar Foundation. He has served as the director of the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center, the Brazos Valley Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center, the Bryan Viking Athletics Club, and the First National Bank of Bryan.
Born and raised in Brazos County, Bryan is a sixth generation Texan. He is the great-great-grandson of William Joel Bryan, the individual after whom the City of Bryan is named.
He is registered as a Republican.
