Judge Tracy L. Ellis: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Tracy L. Ellis is a general magistrate for the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County. She was appointed to the bench by the Hon. Manuel Menendez, Jr., former Chief Judge of the 13th Judicial Circuit, in 2008.

Ellis has presided in the Unified Family Court, Independent Living Court Division.

She received a B.S. (1990) in communications and pre-law and her master's degree (1993) in family and child sciences from Florida State University. Ellis then completed a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law, in 1994.

She joined the Florida Office of the Attorney General in 1998, where she served for seven months as an assistant attorney general. After leaving the office, Ellis became an attorney at Florida Guardian ad Litem. Over the course of her nine-year tenure there, Ellis advanced from the position of attorney to managing attorney and then later became Circuit Director.

She is a registered Republican.
