The Hon. Tom M. Dyer is a judge for the Yolo County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Kathleen M. White (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Dyer graduated with his B.A. in philosophy from the University of California, Davis in 1997. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2003.
Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Dyer had served as the chief deputy legislative affairs secretary for former Governor Jerry Brown since 2015. Dyer, who devoted most of his legal career to working at various California government agencies, also worked as the legislative director for both the California Department of Finance (2012 to 2015) and the California Department of Personnel Administration (2010 to 2012). He served as staff counsel at the California Department of Social Services briefly in 2009 after working for two years as labor relations counsel at the California Department of Personnel Administration beginning in 2006. He was also enforcement counsel at the California Fair Political Practices Commission briefly in 2006.
Dyer began his legal career serving as a deputy district attorney for two years with the Sutter County District Attorney's Office beginning in 2003.
