Biography

The Hon. Thomas D. Zeff is a judge for the Stanislaus County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006.

He is registered without party preference.

Judge Zeff received his B.S. from the University of Oregon in 1973. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1976.

Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Zeff had practiced as a named partner at Crabtree, Schmidt, Zeff, and Jacobs since 1976. During his time in private practice, Zeff specialized in civil litigation with an emphasis on probate, estate planning, insurance, real property, bankruptcy, and banking matters. He also practiced commercial, family and corporation law, as well as insurance defense.

While on the bench, Judge Zeff has presided in the Criminal Department.

His memberships have included the Stanislaus County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California, the Defense Research Institute, and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
