Biography

The Hon. Stuart L. Hing is a judge for the Alameda County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2008 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Julie Conger (Ret.).

He is a registered Republican.

Judge Hing graduated with his B.S. in business administration from California State University, Sacramento. After graduating from college, Hing worked for three years as a senior marketing representative for Xerox. He would ultimately decide to pursue his law degree and would go on to earn his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1985.

After graduating from law school, Hing joined the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, where he would work as a deputy district attorney for twenty-three years. He remained with the D.A.'s office until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2008.

His memberships have included the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association, the Women Lawyers of Alameda County, the Charles Houston Bar Association, the Centro Legal de la Raza, and the Alameda County Bar Association.

While on the bench, Judge Hing has presided over a misdemeanor pre-trials and law and motion calendar.

Judge Hing was born in Sacramento, California and grew up in a housing project in the area. Musically inclined, Judge Hing could play the piano by the age of nine, and the guitar by the age of fifteen. Hing's ability on the guitar earned him a position as lead guitarist for a band that would go on to open for the likes of Earth Wind & Fire and Freddy Fender.
