Biography

The Hon. Steven K. Slocum is a judge for the Superior Court of Merced County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on October 11, 2018, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Ronald W. Hansen.

Slocum earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. He then completed a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law.

He began his legal career as an associate at Musick, Peeler & Garrett in 2002. He practiced there for three years, eventually leaving to join the Office of the District Attorney of Merced County as a supervising deputy district attorney. Then, in 2018, he was appointed to serve as a court commissioner for the Superior Court of Merced County, a position he held until his appointment to the bench.

Slocum is registered as a Republican.
