Biography

The Hon. Steve White is a judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2003 by former governor Gray Davis.

Judge White received his bachelor's degree from California State University, Sacramento. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1974.

White began his legal career in the public sector when he joined the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office in 1974 as a deputy district attorney. By the time he left the D.A.'s office in 1979, he was serving as a supervising deputy district attorney. White would also serve another stint at the Sacramento D.A.'s office from 1989 to 1995, where he served as the acting district attorney. Before rejoining the D.A.'s office, he served as the executive director of the California District Attorney's Association from 1979 to 1983, and as the chief assistant attorney general for the California Department of Justice's Office of the Attorney General from 1983 to 1989.

White would leave the public sector in 1995 when he would become a hiring partner and shareholder for the Sacramento law firm of Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann, and Girard, where he would remain until 2003.

Just prior to his appointment to the bench, White was serving as the Inspector General for the Office of the Inspector General for the State of California.

During his time on the bench, Judge White was elected to serve as presiding judge in 2010. He has also presided over a criminal writ, felony warrants, wiretap warrants, and general trials calendar.
