The Hon. Stephen J. Gallon is a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Gallon received his bachelor's degree from California State Polytechnic University. He went on to earn his J.D. from Glendale University College of Law in 1997.
While in law school, Gallon clerked for the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office before then completing a clerkship with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. After law school, Gallon accepted a full-time position in Los Angeles County as a deputy district attorney. While there, Gallon was assigned to their Hardcore Gang Division, where he helped prosecute gang-related crimes in East Los Angeles and Compton. After five years there, Gallon joined the Riverside County District Attorney's Office as a deputy in 2003, where his assignments included not only the Gang Unit but the Homicide Unit as well. After numerous jury trials and murder cases, which included two Death Penalty cases, Gallon was promoted to supervising deputy district attorney in 2007. In that role, he was tasked with supervising several divisions in Riverside County including the Narcotics, Gang, Homicide, and Cold Case Units. He was serving in that capacity when he received the call to the bench.
While on the Superior Court, Judge Gallon has presided over a Felony Vertical Calendar Department at the Southwest Justice Center.
Though he was born in Baltimore, Maryland, Judge Gallon has lived in California since he was a toddler. He has been active in sports from a young age and attended college on a baseball scholarship. While an injury cut his baseball career short, Judge Gallon still enjoys competing in sports by way of training and participating in local marathons. When he's not running races, he enjoys traveling abroad with his wife and son.
