The Hon. Stephanie E. Thornton-Harris is a judge for the Superior Court of San Bernardino County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown on June 1, 2018, filling a newly created position.
Thornton-Harris earned a B.A. from Princeton University. She then completed a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Thornton-Harris served as a juvenile hearing officer for the Superior Court of San Bernardino County from 1999 to 2001. She then joined the Office of Administrative Hearings, where she was an administrative law judge from 2001 to 2002 and a judge pro tem from 2003 to 2007. She then started serving as a bench officer for the Superior Court of San Bernardino County, a position she held for the next four years. Then, in 2012, she joined the Federal Public Defender’s Office of the Central District of California, where she served as a deputy federal public defender for six years.
Thornton-Harris was a resident of Pasadena, California at the time of her appointment.
She is registered as a Democrat.
