Judge Stefany A. Miley - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Stefany A. Miley was a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was elected to the bench in 2004 and retained in 2014. Her term ended in January 2021.

Miley received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and marketing from Texas A&M University in 1993. She went on to earn a J.D. from California Western School of Law.

While in law school, she clerked for the Hon. Nancy C. Oesterle with the Las Vegas Township Justice Court.

Upon completing her clerkship, Miley entered into private practice. She practiced at Pyatt, Eglet & Silvestri, Edwards & Hale, and Jolley, Urga, Wirth & Woodbury. Her areas of practice included personal injury, medical malpractice, business, probate, products liability, and other insurance-related issues.

Prior to her election to the bench, Miley was practicing personal injury, family law, and criminal law at her own private practice.

While on the bench, she presided in the Family Division.

Miley has served as a volunteer of the Las Vegas Rescue Mission and was involved with the Junior League of Las Vegas. In addition to these, she was instrumental in helping to draft the “Safe Haven for Babies” legislation.
