Biography

Hon. Stefanie C. Moon is a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. She was elected to the bench in 2018, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Ilona Holmes (Ret.).


Moon has held an assignment in the Domestic Violence Division.


Prior to her election, she was a sole practitioner at her own private practice, where she specialized in business litigation and white-collar criminal defense cases. Moon established her practice after working briefly as of counsel at Berger Singerman, P.A. ( 2010 to 2011). She also worked as a trial attorney at the Law Office of Roderick D. Vereen for one year beginning in 2002.


In the public sector, Moon served as an assistant state attorney, a senior assistant statewide prosecutor, and an assistant United States attorney. During her time as a state and federal prosecutor, Moon handled cases involving consumer and bank fraud, internet crimes, as well as firearms and drug cases. She was also a special magistrate for the Broward County Value Adjustment Board.


Moon received a B.B.A. in finance and management from Loyola University, New Orleans in 1990. She then completed a J.D. at Southern University Law Center in 1994.


Her memberships have included the Junior League of Boca Raton and the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Service of Broward County and the American Red Cross.


She is a fifth-generation Floridian, having been born and raised in Riviera Beach, Florida.
