Biography

The Hon. Shonna Young Gay is a judge for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed to the Circuit Court by former Governor Rick Scott in 2011. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Judy M. Pittman-Beibel (Ret.). Judge Gay presides in both Calhoun County and Gulf County.

Judge Gay received her bachelor's degree from Florida State University. She went on to earn a J.D. from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law.

Prior to joining the bench, Gay had served as a sole practitioner since 2007 and as a civil traffic hearing officer since 2009. Before entering into solo practice, she worked as an attorney with Taylor and Gay (2006 to 2007) and Staats and White (2000 to 2006).

Aside from her work in the private sector, Gay also served as an assistant state attorney from 1994 to 2000.
